Solar Water Heater System Project Support
Solar water heating systems must be designed to meet the needs of the application and consider many factors in order to work reliably and efficiently. In addition to offering quality solar storage tank, solar collectors and balance of system components, we also offers expert system design support.
System design can be tailored to meet the needs of the project, which includes but not limited to the following points:
1. Solar System Sizing
- Solar collector output based on the exact project location;
- How many solar collectors should be used to meet the heat demand.
- We will run a third party simulation report so as to review & check if the solar system sizing is practical.
E.g. We will check the solar irradiation of the project location from NASA website, which will be used to calculate the solar collector output. Below is an example of the solar irradiation at latitude 11.895, longitude 8.463 for detailed reference.
E.g. Below is an example of the solar contribution throughout one year, which can gives you a clearer picture of the solar system performance.
2. Pump, Pipe and Storage Tank Sizing
A suitable sized pump is able to smoothly run the solar system operation, and a suitable size storage tank is able to ensure the stable and continuous solar hot water supply, as well as other solar system balancing selection, which will eventually lead to a reliable and efficient solar system performing.
Below are some key questions that we will support to solve for your solar water heating system.
- What is the required flowrate for the solar loop?
- What is the suitable pipe size for the solar loop based on the recommended flowrate?
- What is the suitable pump size required for the solar circulation loop?
- What is the suitable tank capacity based on the specific hot water usage profile?
3.System Control
We will develop the solar system control logic based on the specific project requirements and will choose the applicable suitable solar controller. We normally provide a German made solar controller, which we will support to provide the controller setting, and you are able to copy through into the controller during the installation.
The solar controlling system we can provide is a very robust controller, which is not only to control the basic solar system operation, but to control a twin pump operation, a motorized valve and the backup heating (electric heater, gas boiler, heat pump etc.), any activation that you wanted to add we would be able to incorporate into the solar system control.
We are also able to provide a remote access equipment which is able to provide an online live system operation overview, customized regularly system performance reports to the set e-mail accounts.
If some solar thermal systems require custom control parameters beyond what a standard controller software set can provide, we can also support to find a local suitable supplier for the customized PLC develop.
Visualization
With the visualization options, you can always keep an eye on your solar system.
Visualize your data in a clear system graphic or create diagrams to display your system data in the course of a day, week or month, through the mobilephone, pad, or laptop.
Monitoring
Monitor your system by means of automatic reports and notifications. (On the right is an example of live system).
Receive information on the status of your solar system regularly via e-mail. This will keep you up-to-date and help you react, if a problem occurs. Recognize problems at an early stage ̶ set up reports and send them to your installer for fault analysis.
Parameterization
Parameterize your controller from a distance by means of your internet browser. Save configurations directly and transfer them to your controller.

4.Basic Collector & Piping Layout
Solar collectors’ layout design needs to take the factors of pressure drop, temperature rise and shading into consideration. The system pipeline needs to be well designed so as to ensure a balanced flowrate to each collector, which is the key to a stable and efficient solar system operation.
5.3D Modeling
We can also use tools such as google earth imagery, site photographs, and 3D modelling software, to scale graphical representations of the solar collector field can be generated, including detailed shade analysis. This provides the client with a clear understanding of what the solar field will look on their building.
6.Basic System Schematic
With an overall understanding of the specific solar system requirements, as well as the above calculations, we will be able to provide strong guidance and system diagrams to help ensure the system is correctly engineered, while the final drawings that meet relevant plumbing codes and building regulations must be developed by licensed engineers.
